This compact penthouse loft was created for a single young collector new to the Washington art scene. The design opened the apartment to take advantage of the expansive western skyline views while maximizing storage and efficiency of the numerous apartment systems and technical requirements. The kitchen utilized unusually small-scale appliances, and, overall, the apartment maximizes built-ins, which minimize the need for furniture clutter while at the same time maximized wall space for artwork. The unusually small bathroom explodes with visual space and intricate mosaic tile details. The extensive use of full wall mirrors expand visual space and reflect natural light and views back into the apartment. |
