Joseph Residence

This is the second apartment commissioned by the client of the firm. The client purchased 4 apartments of 2 undeveloped floors of this mid-town high-rise offering 360-degree views of the New York Skyline. Every system in the apartments is new with many of the existing systems relocated to suit the new apartment layouts. Having expanded his passion for collecting contemporary American craft into an avocation, this apartment fully integrates many of Peter's favorite artists' work into the architectural milieu. Commissioning John Dunnigan to build the library, Wendel Castle to build the famous Dr. Calagari sitting room and the main monumental staircase and commissioning Albert Paley to create many of the fireplace mantles and tool sets are a small example of the many creative and talented makers the client involved in this historic project. Trout Design Studio, then operating as Washington Design Collaborative, designed the master plan and system layouts, specified and detailed the apartment and coordinated the efforts of and collaborated with the many talented consultants and makers involved, to create the most important contemporary american craft project built to date. A full listing of the artists and consultants associated with this work is available upon request
